Lorneville Heritage

Lorneville was settled over 150 years ago mainly by farmers and fisherman from Northern Ireland. A number of these families came to Northern Ireland from Scotland apparently during the Plantation. Today, the ancestral castle of the Galbraiths, Culcreuch, still stands near Stirling, Scotland.

Historic family names in Lorneville include: Wilson, Galbraith, Maguire, McCavour, McAfee, Ewart, Stinson, Ferguson to name a few.

Most of the settlers in Lorneville came from Kilkeel, Northern Ireland.
